Halcyon Days pieces are designed to last. Our handcrafted, English fine bone china is no exception, so, when the wick’s burned down on that candle or the last fragrant drops in your diffuser have dried up, why not give your lidded pots a new lease of life? It’s a perfect way to marry style with sustainability. Similarly, our pen pots needn’t be pigeonholed by their stationery-suggestive name. Below are six of our favourite, eco-friendly ways to use repurposed pots around the house, as displayed beautifully in the home of our Head of Marketing, Zenouska.
1. FOR SUGAR, SALT AND SPICES
Kitchen Chic
Forget plastic salt shakers and herb containers, and opt for planet-friendly elegance with an old lidded candle or diffuser pot. It’s a great way to bring some colour to your dining table or kitchen and it’s sure to get you in the mood for some outstanding culinary creations. We recommend assembling a few for an aesthetic alternative to the traditional herb rack.
2. FOR FLOWERS OR HERBS
Full Bloom
For smaller flowers like rosebuds, anemones (pictured above) and sprigs of blossom, our pots provide a perfect home. Fill with your favourites and enjoy their uplifting presence on your table tops, by the bed or bring some floral zen to your home office. We think our al fresco candle pot (pictured above) works particularly well for this purpose.
3. FOR MATCHES
Strike a Light
This tasteful option requires some very basic (we promise) DIY. Find yourself some adhesive striking paper and cut out a circle before sticking to the base of your pot. Next, fill with matches and enjoy a piece that lights up any room.
4. FOR SNACKS
Sweet or Savoury
Wow your dinner guests with a handcrafted, English fine bone china container for nuts and nibbles. These pots are equally well suited to those with a sweet tooth, and the vivid parterre pattern of this former diffuser compliments confectionery to eye-catching effect.
5. FOR COTTON BUDS AND OTHER BATHROOM ESSENTIALS
Bathroom Enhancements
Say goodbye to that eye-sore of a toothbrush mug and stow your bathroom essentials in a hand-painted, 24ct gold-gilded pot. We think that, once burned down, our Antler Trellis Ivory candle pot makes a tranquil, tasteful looking container for toothbrushes, cotton buds and more.
6. FOR COVID-19 TESTING KITS
Safety First
A use that’s in keeping with the times as many of us begin to return to work, our premium pots make handy homes for each element of your home testing kits. Hopefully, the relevance of this use will fade in the not too distant future and you can convert your old diffuser, candle or pen pot into one of the other five fantastic incarnations listed above.
